Who is Sílvia?
I was born in the beautiful North of Portugal, but I currently live in the sunny peaceful Algarve.
I teach European Portuguese in-person and online, to people like you, who want to speak comfortably with confidence, and want to break free from the struggle of not understanding Portuguese speakers.
Why do I teach Portuguese?
I love languages
I love learning new languages. I believe that understanding other languages has given me an opportunity to connect deeply with other cultures.
It has allowed me to understand so much more about the different places where I’ve lived.
I speak fluently French, English, Spanish and i’m on the process of learning Dutch and Italian.
I love mixture
I lived and worked abroad in Europe and I have long travelled Latin America.
These were both amazing experiences, but I also understand the struggles of arriving and settling in a different country and culture.
I truly believe that living in a country and not speaking the native language outcasts us from really immersing and understanding the culture.
I want to help break the barriers between cultures by motivating people to understand each other’s languages.
I love to teach
I realized that all my life I was a good and efficient teacher.
I am really passionated about this work and it brings me so much happiness to see my students progressing and having fun learning.
Who is Sílvia Behind the Scenes?
I am an adventurous traveler who loves to backpack, be in nature, bodyboard, and dance.
Some of my happiest moments have happened while traveling with my backpack, and I am always looking forward to my next travel adventure!
I am a hard worker with a strong sense of drive! I can only do things that I truly enjoy, and there’s no way you can get me involved in something I don’t want to do.
I can be a very focused and goal-oriented person who puts a lot of effort, love, and dedication into making something truly great!
Was I always a teacher?
No. I studied to be a Nurse and I worked in that area for nearly 10 years.
Through personal and professional experience I realized that what I really care about is connection, effective communication, mixture & comprehension.
So, I have started my project with sílvia in 2022, and I am totally dedicated to teach European Portuguese now, online and in-person.
